LORETTO, PA-Sometimes you just get lucky.  For instance, when you are a half hour late for a tip-off and you show up to the arena and find out the first game of a tripleheader ran long.  Imagine this writer's surprise and relief when he arrived at the Degol Arena at St. Francis College to see the Johnstown Trojans and South Park Eagles still in warm-ups!

Well, that is where the luck stop as Johnstown cruised to a 60-26 victory over the fifth seed out of the WPIAL South Park.  The District 6-AAA champs had an easy night against the Eagles as they outclassed a much less athletic squad.

The Trojans parlayed tenacious defense and a strong inside game while practically keeping the Eagles off the boards at both ends of the court and most likely used this as a tune-up to further inter-district PIAA matchups.

Aside from a sluggish start marred by some sloppy passing, JHS did not seem to "play down to their competition".  Point guard Xavier Thomas, making up for some of the afore said sloppiness, made a beautiful behind the back pass on a 3-on-1 fast break that was eventually converted by Kurt Hoffman, who added ten points in the Trojan effort.

William Sharpe led all scorers with 16 points with teammate Marcus Tullis not far behind with 15.  Coach Dan Shipman's squad allowed no South Park player to reach double digits in points.  Connor Dixon was the high scorer for the Eagles with 9 points.  Coach Tony Chicero's squad finished the season with a 16-10 record.

JHS improved its record to 25-3 will take on Perry Traditional Academy, a 58-49 winner over Uniontown in a contest held at Allderdice High School.  The game will be played Tuesday at a site to be determined.
