A self-described pessimist was very pleased with what he saw last night under the lights, at least what he saw from the first team varsity squad.  Johnstown got the ball first and per scrimmage rule started at its own 20.  The ground game of both Stephens and Simms gained big chunks of yards however, as was the case last week, the Trojans stumbled in the red zone and ran out of plays.

 

The first series for the Forest Hills offense did not go well.  The Trojan defense appears to be strong again this year.  They forced and recovered 2 fumbles and intercepted a pass in their first defensive series.

 

The second series on the offensive side of the ball was more of the first.  After driving down the field, a Simms fumble stalled the drive but Trojan fans must be happy with the way the offensive line has played thus far.

 

By the time the Rangers got their second offensive series, the heat and humidity had appeared to take its toll on the Trojans as Forest Hills moved the ball much easier. 

 

The last series' of the first stringers was, like last week, a series that started at the opponents' 20.  JHS scored almost as easily as they did last week against Bedford.  Although it took three plays this time, it produced the same result, one JHS fans hope to see many times this year, touchdown LaRod.

 

On the Forest Hills side of the ball, after being stuffed twice on running plays, the Rangers threw a jump ball in the end zone that a receiver came down with.

 

The performance of the JV team solidifies the scene of last week.  Hopefully no key starters will go down with injury as these guys appear to be bit green.  Forest Hills' JVs had their way with the Trojans proving that traditionally Forest Hills has strong teams from varsity to junior high.

 

Looking ahead at the regular season schedule, there is no reason that this team cannot be 5-0 when it gets ready to play Bishop Carroll.  A little deja vu if you will, although this time the game will be at Trojan Stadium, and hopefully with a different result.
